Cornwall (day3) - Lands End
Finally the sun came out and we visited the Minack Theatre
which is an open-air theatre constructed above a gully. It was a bless-taking view from there!
(although I wasn't very well, I'm very pleased that I could visit there)
最終日、晴れ。
ミナック・シアターという断崖絶壁の上に作られた野外劇場へ。
息をのむような綺麗な色とスケール。
この日体調を崩してしまったものの、来られてよかった。。。。
And lastly to Lands End - the most extreme westerly point on the England.

最後はイギリス最西のポイント、ランズエンドへ。
Cornwall (day2) - St Michael's mount
On the second day we went to St Michael's mount where is 3miles from Penzance.
It is a tidal island looks like Mont Saint-Michel in France.
We walked up there, had a cornish pasty and explored Marazion town.
二日目はペンザンス側のセント・マイケルズ・マウントへ。
フランスのモンサンミッシェルとそっくりな場所です。
潮の満干次第で、徒歩またはボートで渡ります。
コーンウォール地方独特のコーニッシュパイを食べ、
本土側の小さな小さな街をうろうろ。
ちなみに黒地に白のクロスはコーンウォールの旗。
Cornwall (day1) - St Ives
Last week I visited Cornwall, the south-west peninsula of England.
We based at Penzance for 3 days to traveled around, St Ives and Lands End, etc.
As you can see typical English weather on the first photo,
it was cloudy in the first two days.... but it was a great journey!
先週、イギリス最南西部のコーンウォール地方を訪れました。
ペンザンスという港町を拠点にその周辺をのんびり廻る３日間。
最初の2日間のお天気はあいにくの「イギリス風」でしたが、楽しい旅になりました。
初日はセント・アイヴスというアーティストのコロニーと言われる街へ。
ロンドンのテートギャラリーの分館が（こんな辺鄙なところに！）あります。
他にも小さなギャラリーが沢山ありましたが、思ったよりも作品はトラディショナル。
Millenniumというギャラリーはコンテンポラリーなものを扱っていて
これから始まる展示も面白そうでした。

St Ives, where we visited on the first day, is famous as the artists' colony.
As well as a blanch of the Tate Gallery a lot of independent galleries are there,
but I found many of them are traditional.
My friend found a gallery 'Millennium' which was very good.
If you like contemporary work, I would recommend that.

We also visited Barbara Hepworth Museum/Sculpture garden,
popped into galleries and shops, explored the town, and rambled about a beach.....

お店やギャラリーをみながら街をうろうろ、海辺をぶらぶら。

’PAPER WORKS’
As I've already mentioned on my facebook, my work was included in a book
which features "paper works" created by 95 artists worldwide.
I had been waiting for long time to get and finally I received it yesterday!
It is great to see my own name in something published and I'm proud of what I could have done.
But! at the same time I looked at my work critically and felt I need to push myself up even more.
I'm not 100% happy with my work and it doesn't look as strong as others work in the book, in my opinion....
Creating something is an endless journey... it's a lifework! phew...
少し前にfacebookでお知らせしましたが、私の作品を本に載せて頂きました。
紙を扱った作品を集めた本で、中国の出版社から英語で出されています。
掲載アーティストは世界各国から95名。
自分の名前が印刷されているのを嬉しく見る反面もっと頑張らないと！と気が引き締まります。
自分の作るものにまだまだ納得できていないし、届きたいところにもまだ。
アートの道に進み始めて3年。もう3年、まだ3年。
エンドレスの旅はまだまだ続きます。。。。ふぅ。

commissioned work for RSVP magazine
Here are some photos of my commissioned work for a Japanese magazine
that features English life and culture.
This magazine gives an in depth insight into British culture and this issue is
about the Royal warranty as the diamond jubilee is coming in June.
My work is on the title page inside and also around the column.

トビラ絵と紅茶にまつわるコラムのページです。
6月には女王即位60周年の祝典がある為、今回のテーマは王室御用達。
イギリスではロンドン三越で取り扱っています。

Brilliance 2012 - Opening eve
As I posted yesterday 'Brilliance' has started this evening.
I had a great time with lights, fireworks and friends! Also it was wonderful to have a chat with viewers.
The lights work quite well with paper creating different tones, shade and shadows.
Because of the health and safety reason I only can use LED lights which are white.
I will have a try for orange lights next time as they give a warm tone.
昨日のポストで書いたBrillianceというイベントが本日オープニングです。
メリーゴーランドやファイヤーパフォーマンスなどもあって、予想以上の大賑わい。
最後には花火もあがって、そのあとは見に来てくれた友人達とパブへ。
ショーウィンドーを覗いていた人達からも嬉しいコメントを沢山頂き、素敵な夜を過ごしました。
頑張ってよかった！
安全上の理由で今回は支給のLEDしか使えなかったので、次は白熱球で作りたいな。。。

Brilliance 2012 - Lighting up Poole
Two of my latest work are in shop windows. (No.5 &13 in the map below.)
All artworks are illuminated, so it's best to visit after 6.30pm to enjoy!

As the work will be display on a shop window, I took a try to make bigger work which was new for me.
Bigger means more work to do!! (It was too late when I realised.)
I ended up working as busy as a bee running about between wooden workshop, laser-cutting workshop and the studio.
Today I transported all work into Poole to set up.
One is displayed in Guildhall Gallery where sells prints and pictures.
I created 120cm wide box with paper cutouts illustrating imaginary world which is mixture of present Poole and past time.
Small lights will be on between paper layers.
The other work is for Dr Feelgoods Tattoo Studio.
I asked the owners and some of my friends why/what/when they got tattoos.
One of my friend looks tattooing like one of the ways to be 're-born'.
I liked the idea as people tend to have tattoos as personal memory.
I chose butterflies as a metaphor for re-born and transformation.
A crawling caterpillar grows up to a flyable butterfly, although they are frail.
This work will be lit up with lights to get shadows.

明日、金曜日の夕方から日曜日まで、隣街のPooleでイベントがあり、
その一部として作品をお店等のウィンドウに展示します。
20人ほどのアーティストが参加し、全ての作品は光を使うもの。
私は2カ所場所をもらうことになり、窓面も大きいし、
今までやったことのない大きめな作品を作ることに。
が、大きければその分作業も増えるわけで、各工房をかけずり回るという結果（汗）
紙は大きいのでレーザーカッターで切っています。
そんな怒濤な日々も今日で終わり、無事作品を運搬・設置しました。
ひとつの作品は1m20cmの箱に紙をレイヤー状にいれたもの。
Pooleは歴史ある古い街で、そこから得たインスピレーションで
現在と昔の交差する空想の世界を作りました。
紙の間にライトが入ります。
もうひとつの作品は、タトゥー屋さんに展示されるもの。
日本での入れ墨のイメージとは異なり、タトゥーを入れている人は結構います。
入れたきっかけやモチーフを友人やお店の方に聞いて作品に反映させました。
ある友人は、タトゥーやピアスを
「人はただ産まれただけでなく、人生を通して色んな風に生れ変わりながら生きていく」
そのひとつの手段としてみているそうです。
確かに体に何かを刻むというのは、その時の思いや受けた影響をそこに留めること。
留学生の友人は、自分の国からイギリスにくる前にツバメのタトゥーを入れたそうです。
蝶は人気のあるタトゥーのモチーフであることと、
次のステップへ、飛び立ったり形を変えたり、という意味を作品に込めてみました。
そして短命である儚さ。
この作品には正面からライトをあてて影を写します。

Open 10am - 5pm
"Hide and Seek" will be displayed with other artists work.

Artists display their illuminated works in 24 places in Poole.
I have 2 venues to display my new work.
