Commissioned Work ー お仕事

I was commissioned to create art work for promotional posters of Japanese women's magazine,

which linked up with cosmetics.

I made 7 different paper cut illustrations.

Over 30 posters were printed and displayed for one week in Omotesando Station in Tokyo.

講談社の女性誌フラウと化粧品会社さんのタイアップ広告のお仕事をさせて頂きました。

3月11-17日の間、東京・表参道駅構内（エスカレーター周り）に掲示されてます。

３０枚以上あるのですが、分散して貼られているので７種類、探してみて下さい。

今回のお仕事は、帰国後ちょうど落ち着いた頃に、

突然、担当のデザイナー堀康太郎さんからメールを頂いてスタートしました。

ポップアップや紙の立体作品をやる人を捜してらっしゃったようで、

まさに発掘して頂いたかんじです。

プロフェッショナルな方達と一緒のお仕事は、もの凄いテンションあがりました。

ノリにのってこだわった結果、撮影が12時間にも及んでしまったんですが（汗）

チーム一丸となって取組む仕事は本当に気持ちよかった！

雑誌を作る人、デザインをコントロールする人、

光や色を操るアーティストのカメラマンさん、そして、実際に作る私。

前職も色んな人が関わってプロジェクトを完成させるお仕事で、

その現場感が大好きだったので、やっぱりこういう作りあげる仕事はやめられなそうです。

３つ紙の作品を作っていったのですが、

現場でその３つから７つにバリエーションを増やすことになり、

アドリブで切り貼りアレンジして仕上げました。

そういう「ノリ」や、ストイックにより良いものを！というのも

時に苦しいけど、やっぱり楽しいんですよね。。。

これからも良い作品を作っていけるよう、頑張ります。

22nd February - 近況報告

22nd February was the date I flew over to the UK to start my artistic career

and it was the biggest turning point in my life. 

So in a way yesterday was my 4th birthday as an artist. 

It became my annual ritual on that date to look back what I have done so far and

think about what I want/aim to do in the next coming 365 days.

Now I am lucky enough to work in a creative studio my previous colleague established last year.

It is a spatial design/engineering company as well as a workshop which has some technical equipments. 

Can't wait to experiment and develop my work there.

2/22は自分の中で振り返りの日です。

09年に渡英したのがその日だったので、

毎年、何をやれたか、今後どうして行きたいか考えるようにしています。

今年でアーティスト4歳。

自分の肩書きが未だに曖昧ですが、

成長とともに「なりたい職種」を形作っていけばいいかなと思います。

色んな勢いもあったけど、30歳からの留学とキャリアチェンジ、

飛び立ったときの気負いと覚悟は半端なかったなぁと思います。

その気持ちを忘れないようにすべく、

毎年この日に初心に戻って気を引き締めます。

今は元同僚の立ち上げたデザインの会社で働いています。

会社だけどアトリエでもある、とても良い制作環境です。

本当に周りの人には恵まれていて幸せモノです。

応援してくれる家族や友人、お会いしたことのない人達、

感謝してもしきれません。

まだまだがんばります。

Starting the New Year

Hello 2013!

I wish you and yours a fabulous and healthy new year.    

I am having calm New Year's Day at home in Japan after I missed it for 3 years.

It is fantastic to have a super traditional celebration and see its beauty.

I hope I can show something Japanese more on my blog this year.

Now on display - 展示のおしらせ

My works are now on display in 'Rokujigen' in Tokyo, Japan.

This is a small cozy cafe but rather a salon where creative people come by.

 I exhibited my previous work here 2 years ago as my first show ever.

Opening time : Fri-Sun 15.00-22.00

The display will be on until the end of December.

It is closed sometimes in order to events and preparations. 

Please check the website before visiting or ask me if you can't read Japanese.

こじんまりした素敵なカフェですが、面白い人達が集まるサロンのようなところ。

2年前、人生初の作品展示をさせて頂いた大事な場所です。

Group Exhibition in Estonia

I was invited to a group exhibition "Sex lives of the Poor and Unknown"

at Culture Factory Polymer Festival 2012 in Estonia.

I drew my strawberry girls on a sheet of paper (approx. A1 size)

which was made from ropes!!

　最近のテーマである苺ガールズのドローイングを。

　ロープから作られた紙（A1サイズ）に描いています。

（エストニアって、、、どこ？！！）と慌ててグーグル博士に質問。

ロシアのお隣でした。

RSVP magazine - summer

Cornwall (day3) - Lands End

 Finally the sun came out and we visited the Minack Theatre 

which is an open-air theatre constructed above a gully. It was a bless-taking view from there!  

(although I wasn't very well, I'm very pleased that I could visit there)

最終日、晴れ。

ミナック・シアターという断崖絶壁の上に作られた野外劇場へ。

息をのむような綺麗な色とスケール。

この日体調を崩してしまったものの、来られてよかった。。。。

And lastly to Lands End - the most extreme westerly point on the England.

最後はイギリス最西のポイント、ランズエンドへ。

Cornwall (day2) - St Michael's mount

On the second day we went to St Michael's mount where is 3miles from Penzance.

It is a tidal island looks like Mont Saint-Michel in France.

We walked up there, had a cornish pasty and explored Marazion town.

二日目はペンザンス側のセント・マイケルズ・マウントへ。

フランスのモンサンミッシェルとそっくりな場所です。

潮の満干次第で、徒歩またはボートで渡ります。

コーンウォール地方独特のコーニッシュパイを食べ、

本土側の小さな小さな街をうろうろ。

ちなみに黒地に白のクロスはコーンウォールの旗。

Cornwall (day1) - St Ives

Last week I visited Cornwall, the south-west peninsula of England.

We based at Penzance for 3 days to traveled around, St Ives and Lands End, etc.

As you can see typical English weather on the first photo,

it was cloudy in the first two days.... but it was a great journey!

先週、イギリス最南西部のコーンウォール地方を訪れました。

ペンザンスという港町を拠点にその周辺をのんびり廻る３日間。

最初の2日間のお天気はあいにくの「イギリス風」でしたが、楽しい旅になりました。

初日はセント・アイヴスというアーティストのコロニーと言われる街へ。

ロンドンのテートギャラリーの分館が（こんな辺鄙なところに！）あります。

他にも小さなギャラリーが沢山ありましたが、思ったよりも作品はトラディショナル。

Millenniumというギャラリーはコンテンポラリーなものを扱っていて

これから始まる展示も面白そうでした。

St Ives, where we visited on the first day, is famous as the artists' colony.

As well as a blanch of the Tate Gallery a lot of independent galleries are there,

but I found many of them are traditional.

My friend found a gallery 'Millennium' which was very good.
If you like contemporary work, I would recommend that.

We also visited Barbara Hepworth Museum/Sculpture garden,

popped into galleries and shops, explored the town, and rambled about a beach..... 

  

他にはBarbara Hepworthという彫刻家の旧アトリエ／彫刻庭園を訪れたり、

お店やギャラリーをみながら街をうろうろ、海辺をぶらぶら。

’PAPER WORKS’

As I've already mentioned on my facebook, my work was included in a book

which features "paper works" created by 95 artists worldwide.

I had been waiting for long time to get and finally I received it yesterday!

It is great to see my own name in something published and I'm proud of what I could have done.

But! at the same time I looked at my work critically and felt I need to push myself up even more.

I'm not 100% happy with my work and it doesn't look as strong as others work in the book, in my opinion.... 

Creating something is an endless journey... it's a lifework! phew...

少し前にfacebookでお知らせしましたが、私の作品を本に載せて頂きました。

紙を扱った作品を集めた本で、中国の出版社から英語で出されています。

掲載アーティストは世界各国から95名。

自分の名前が印刷されているのを嬉しく見る反面もっと頑張らないと！と気が引き締まります。

自分の作るものにまだまだ納得できていないし、届きたいところにもまだ。

アートの道に進み始めて3年。もう3年、まだ3年。

エンドレスの旅はまだまだ続きます。。。。ふぅ。
